Lady Ship Production's inaugural film, Big Sur is a darkly comedic drama short that explores the myriad ways grief transforms and haunts us. Big Sur follows Faye on the eve of her 40th anniversary, as she and her husband return to the beloved place they eloped to many years before. An examination of the legacy of mental illness, Big Sur sheds light and understanding on a taboo subject still shadowed by the stigma of guilt and shame.
Big Sur will go into production in the LA area in the summer of 2021. We are aiming to raise $60,000 to cover pre and post production costs, shooting costs and festival fees.
Production costs include things like:
• Hiring the cast and crew
• Renting a location for three days of shooting
• Making sure the cast and crew are well-fed (very important!)
• Hiring a casting director
• Renting cameras and camera equipment
• Renting lights and lighting equipment
• Hiring an editor and all the crew needed for post-production, which is when the film goes from being tons of unorganized raw rough footage into a cohesive and sharp-looking whole
• Film festival submission fees
• Added costs of PPE and sanitizing procedures due to COVID-19 production guidelines
Big Sur's crew will be female-centric, with women in all department head positions. As we build our creative team, we will add them below.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
A donation of any amount will help us get closer to our goal. It takes a village (and several minor miracles!) to get a movie made and we appreciate any amount, no matter how big or small.
As Lady Ship is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization, Big Sur donations are TAX-DEDUCTIBLE to the extent permitted by law.
Thank you thank you for your support!!
